Ria Rua - SCAPEG.O.A.T.

Irish alt artist Ria Rua’s debut album is a banging fresh alt rock record full of anger and power. Ass-kicking, energetic and powerful female vocals mixed to match the heavy and wild rock instrumentals, it starts off with Ass Movin’, a late Noughties style alt song that resembles artists like Paramore or The Pretty Reckless and Ria’s vocals match that style too. The album has a slightly cold and dominant vibe to it. It’s wild and a bit dirty, a middle finger in music form.  Mad As Hell and Black And Tanned are heavy, explosive percussion led tracks that merge perfectly with Ria’s passionate vocals, letting the confidence radiate from her voice while Bitchhemian Rapsody unleashes her complete vocal potential, letting her dominance shine. The baseline and drums in You’ll Only Like Me When I’m Dead sound industrial and the lyrics highlight the contrasts of love, hatred and the art of not giving a fuck. The entire album is outstandingly bass and synth-heavy. It fits in this line of heavy, slightly freaky, reckless music that you can lose yourself in and put on while you mentally scream at a wall. This album pushes the boundaries of how dirty and chaotic an album can be from an instrumental perspective without seeming (mushroom - y) and still create a manifest of confidence and Fuck You energy. It’s a delicious chaos, wild and independent. The type of FUCK YOU music we definitely need more of.
