Tornado Lobster Killer - Lobsteria

Tornado Lobster Killer recently released Lobsteria which is energetic and gives honest lyrics about personal struggles that have a sense of urgency. This is the first album with their current lineup and while established in punk rock, Lobsteria experiments with melodic hardcore balancing aggression with more emotional depth.

“Pay to Play” has a classic punk sound that confronts the challenging aspects of sustaining creativity in an evolving world. “Hollywood” challenges image-driven culture and has the lyric, “Hollywood, pretty place to die.”"Batter the Bars” is a fast two-minute one with relentless fast drumming. “Crave” has a catchy guitar riff and is a standout. “Death P**n,” “Obey” and “Suicide Cake” take on themes of alienation, anxiety, and disconnection from life. “Rat Race” is another standout with its fast tempo and upbeat feel that is great to listen to while lifting weights at the gym or going for a run. “Lemmy” turns up the heaviness and aggression. The track uses phrases like “let there be rock” and “rock n’ roll rebel”, as a nod to the history of rock music. “Rhya” explores human connection as a form of resistance in a world that feels devoid of meaning from their perspective. The closer “Scarecrow” deals with darker lyrics of loss and collapse. These feelings are turned into self-awareness and reveal a forged identity through adversity. This album may reflect on social realities and emotional feelings, but it offers a way to power through tough times.
