Goldbug - Blink
Goldbug shows a grittier side on “Blink.” Like the insect eyes of its cover, this song navigates light and dark - instruments, rhythms, and feelings devour each other, tripping the listener like a stray branch. Goldbug’s soft reminiscences “mowed lawns and a see-saw” are offset by a gruelling guitar, and vice versa, a hopeful motif on a violin tailed by his robotic past “I never bruised, drank gasoline.” Another beautifully errant single from a guaranteed incredible debut album.
