Alice Jago- The Cobblestone

On a fateful November night in 2025, I met phenomenal musician Alice Jago in the queue for My Bloody Valentine at The National Stadium, and THAT conversation led to my getting my job in The Goo. Crazy, crazy times. In a full circle moment, I got the chance to catch Alice at the Cobblestone last week. Opening the show was the equally brilliant Anna Jordan of Selk fame. Think Patti Smith meets Joni Mitchell when she hits the piano or pulls out her uke. Anna's stunning vibrato brought us to our knees and, to be frank, even getting me to listen to a ukulele is a difficult job. She did it. 'Silent Sea' is a song of trance-inspiring beauty and her cover of Roy Orbison's 'In Dreams' should be cause for disqualification. Cheating of the highest order, as that is one of the best songs ever written. An amazing set from Anna. Alice Jago followed, with her voice of most gorgeous longing, passion and upset. 'Laugh It Off' from her newest album Look to the Sky features some transcendent slide guitar work from Dave Duggan. Therese Coogan on backing vox added another layer to the ethereal folk being played. Alice's cover of 'Jolene' left the room in awe, thoroughly spellbinding and essential. I even got a job as head Googler when facts about Dolly Parton and Dollywood were needed. Always fond of a nixer myself, contact me for further information.
